Paris-Lyons-Mediterranee (PLM) 4-4-0 locomotive no. C142, one of the famous 'Coupe-ventes' (windcutters) leaves Cannes station at the turn of the 19th century. The pointed front and fairings were intended to counteract the power-sapping effect of the 'Mistral' wind that blows down the Rhone valley from the north.
